Can you tell me more about what I can expect from my Small Groups Online experience?
Yes we can. Here are four core principles we seek to embody (and you can confidently expect):

Grace – We are here to help you, affirm you and encourage you. We are not here to condemn you, and we will not compound upon the shame that so many people are already experiencing without any extra help from us.

Not to be harassed – Seeking healing is your choice. So is your participation in these groups. We will not hunt you down if you haven’t been to a meeting in a couple of weeks. The choice for healing is yours and we will not try to force that choice on you.

Honesty – We’ll always tell you the truth.

Confidentiality – Our groups are completely confidential. You are welcome to speak freely and without judgment. The things discussed in small groups online are about difficult and intimate issues. We recognize that. Your privacy is our priority.
Can I join a Small Group with my spouse?
At this time, we do not offer couples’ groups – only those specific to men, and specific to women. While couples’ counseling can certainly be beneficial, we have found these traditionally gender-specific groups to be helpful regarding the ease of connection and conversation afforded to participants. Marital discord is often present in these circumstances, and this short separation allows members to empathize with, work through and seek wisdom re: their struggles, independent of a spouse present, and then take that learning and encouragement back home for the betterment of his/her marriage.
Okay, but still... do you have to charge me money just to join a small group?
Small Groups Online is a nonprofit ministry. However, we charge a fee for a few reasons:

First, we want to offer an amazing experience, so there are many costs associated with the technology we use.

Second, we want this community to be safe and free of spammers and malicious users/bots. By requiring a monthly fee (attached to credit card), we greatly discourage these entities from signing up.

Third, freedom requires an investment. Most programs and resources out there offering “hope” to men seeking freedom from porn and the like are much more expensive. We want to provide you the most benefit we can for as low a cost as we can. However, we also want you to understand that there is an investment required, so you value the resources available to you.

If you want community but find the $35 p/mo hard to swallow, perhaps look at the Live Free Community App? That’s only $5 p/mo.
Is this really worth the cost?
At the risk of sounding kitschy, we’d probably bounce that question right back at you… How much is pornography costing you? Maybe it’s not a monetary question. But when you consider the relationships you have – whether with a spouse, or your children, or even the person you see in the mirror – is avoiding the conversation really bringing you life? Is neglecting the issue the same as finding freedom from it? Is your secret worth the cost it could have on everything you know and love?
Now that I’m signed up, do I need to download software or do anything else?
No. We use a professional version of Google Meet to facilitate our weekly meetings which does not require special software to run but does work best with Google Chrome. That said, if you are using the Google Meet on a smart device then yes, you need to install that app. If need be, you can even access your group by telephone, but we recommend using a webcam (or smartphone) and a pair of earbuds (with microphone).
And… what if I absolutely hate it?
Of course, it is our hope and prayer that these groups will do exactly what they are intended to: provide you with the opportunity to begin what so many others have found to be a beautiful journey toward openness, healing and – ultimately – complete freedom from the vices that seek to suffocate those of us who are vulnerable to their temptations. If, for some reason, you find your experience to be something else entirely, there is no long-term commitment, and you may cancel your membership at any time. (Please note: all requests to terminate subscriptions must be submitted online no less than 72 hours prior to your monthly renewal billing date, here.)
